MISSION & VALUES
Our Mission Statement
We are a community-based organization of women working with women who have been affected by sexual violence and other forms of oppression. We work from a feminist, anti-oppressive framework that embraces inclusiveness, diversity and equity which means:
- Recognizing that sexual violence is a crime, committed predominantly by men against women and children;
- Striving to eradicate sexual violence and all forms of oppression;
- Eliminating barriers in order to increase access for women from diverse communities; and
- Networking and resource building with other community partners.
Shared Vision Statement…

The Centre is a focal point for women and women’s issues in the community of Peel.
We are instrumental in making change happen
for women as we will build a place here in the Centre,
where diversity is valued and celebrated,
and spread that work outside the Centre to develop a community that truly

Values
Our organization embraces these values in action
- We believe we have a responsibility to provide ethical, compassionate, quality service to the women in our community.
- This work is guided by the principles of personal integrity, professional competence and the most effective programs and services we can provide.
- In helping other women heal from the effects of sexual violence and realize each women’s full capacity, we work from a feminist/ anti-oppression framework.
- Recognizing the complexity of this issue we work in partnership with others in our community.
- In order to ensure each woman’s safety we are guided by confidentiality policy and practices.
- In order to ensure our ability to provide both immediate crisis support as well as the need for long-term community change, related to sexual violence we need to be a financially sustainable organization.
- As one of the few women-led organizations in our community committed to serving victims of sexual violence we see ourselves as leaders (or facilitators) in the advocacy and social change work required to eradicate sexual violence.
- In our commitment to other women we are leaders in the development of young women entering this field through student placements and part-time employment opportunities.
- We know and understand that this work requires a deep personal commitment and passion. In order to cope with our multifaceted, fast paced, work under pressure environment we actively support and encourage each other in both our professional and personal development.
